EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GROOMING

Imagine getting into public transport and the person next you is smelling some type of way that just makes you want to wish you didn't have sense of smell and you having to endure all that throughout the journey. Let's face it many of  us have been in such situations or even been on the other side of it such as myself without even knowing it.

This is where grooming comes in. Personal grooming is simply the way a man takes care of himself and his body. It’s not a question of pride or narcissism but self-respect and politeness to others at the very least. Whilst some men can spend hours to look immaculate, everyone can seamlessly integrate it into their daily lifestyle.

Personal grooming boosts your confidence and it defines your personality. For men, one of the best and golden grooming tips is to keep everything neat and trimmed.

There are three key areas that are focused on when it comes to grooming:

1. Cleaning

In this area you want to put your focus on getting yourself as clean as possible.
Ways to achieve this would be:
  •  Bathing everyday
  • Washing key body areas such as armpits, crouch and butt region, feet and ears.
  • Always wearing clean clothing, especially inner wear and socks.
  • Lastly though a bit common, would be to always regularly wash your clothes.
  • Clean your towels and bed sheets too.

2. Skin care

Here your main focus becomes a bit detailed and specified because know you are breaking down to
 i. facial and body skin
ii. hair.

 i. Facial and body skin care

First and foremost it is important to identify your skin type so as to be able to build your skin routine with the appropriate products because not all of them can be good for you even though they do help.
There are two tests you can perform at home to help you understand what kind of skin you have in just 30 minutes: the blotting sheet method and the “watch and wait” method.

The “watch and wait” method

  • This at-home test allows you to understand your skin type by observing how your skin behaves after cleansing.
  • To start, wash your face with a gentle cleanser, then gently pat it dry.
  • Wait 30 minutes.
  • If your skin appears shiny throughout, you likely have oily skin.
  • If it feels tight and is flaky or scaly, you likely have dry skin.
  • If the shine is only in your T-zone, you probably have combination skin.
  • If your skin feels hydrated and comfortable, but not oily, you likely have normal skin.
or

The blotting sheet method

  • When pressed to the skin, blotting sheets absorb oil—and you can use them to help you understand what type of skin you have.
  • After washing your face with a gentle cleanser, pat it dry and wait for 30 minutes.
  • Press blotting sheets to various areas of your face, then hold the sheets up to the light to see the oil markings.
  • If the sheets soaked up an abundance of oil from all areas of the face, you have oily skin.
  • If they absorb little to no oil, then you probably have dry skin.
  • If the sheets show only a small amount of oil from your T-zone, you have combination skin.
  • If you only see minimal oil from every area of your face, you most likely have normal skin.

ii. Hair

  • for hair, the goal is to not just build a routine but know what works for you and invest in your hair
  • important tips you should follow are:
  • wash your hair regularly but not too often. make sure your scalp is clean by washing your hair at least once a week and not everyday.
  • invest in quality products
  • stay consistent in your routine.
  • don't rub your hair.
  • less product is more especially during styling your hair

3. Maintenance

Basically this is talking about making sure you remain neat, clean, looking good every time.
This involves the following:
  • See your barber as often. At least get  haircut after 2 to 3 weeks.
  • Trim your nails. The rule is; if your nails have any dirt in them then they are too long and need to be trimmed. I recommend once a week
  • Follow up on your skin care routines regularly. Some can be a daily thing like washing your face while others can  take up to a week.
  • Healthy lifestyle. Try as much as possible to reduce your junk intake to a bare minimum while increasing healthy balanced meals with lots of water drinking in between and exercising regularly.
  • Fragrance. Get a perfume that’s you like.
  • Don’t forget deodorant especially for those guys that sweat a lot.
  • Always moisturize your whole body after showering.
  • Separate your body and facial soaps. Also do the same thing with your towels.
  • And clean the facial towel after three days while the body can go for 2 weeks.
  • replace your toothbrushes body and face scrub regularly. as you focus on maintaining yourself don't forget your tools too

With these you are guaranteed to see a major change in your appearance and it will be noticed by all those around you.
Remember grooming is all about keeping your appearance in good condition always
It doesn’t have to be too strenuous or expensive but as long as you know what you’re doing and you follow all that have been talked about you’re good to go
I'll be doing a more detailed version of this breaking down each key area on its own.
